Hello everyone, New pool owner here. I have some dead algae in my pool that my automatic vacuum can't pick up. My system doesn't have a way to close the drain only the two skimmers. In order to vacuum to waste should I close off one skimmer all the way to get better suction? Re: Question about manual vaccuming
Cant you plug the main drain line? Main drains do virtually nothing apart from reducing the skimming action and as dirt enters from the surface skimming it out is the best move. Failing that, yes closing off one skimner will put more water through the other improving the vacuum. Putting a fluffy cotton towel in the skimmer basket you'll trap the fine stuff much easier as it may pass through your filter otherwise.
I may not give you the answer you want to hear, but I will give an honest opinion of your situation as you decribe it.
Re: Question about manual vaccuming
Thank you, i put a pool sock on the skimmer to stop any debris from coming in. I finally did it closing one skimmer and it clean the pool very well.
