How to sand plaster?

You Google POOL CALCULATOR website real easy. It will turn out to be your necessary and also simple, most efficient tool in taking care of your pool.
If you have a little time 3 times a week you can maintain your pool yourself with no problem. I would be weary about PH levels below 7.3 unless it is aimed at special short term goal. Pool calculator will tell you how it affects Calcite Saturation Index.
CSI is also the number that pretty much determines the lifespan of your plaster.
If you want to keep your PH more stable look into adding borates via boric acid or even by plain borax.
It will also have other benefits, like more algae resistivity, softer water and sparkling shimmering water on top. In colored quartz surface it has remarkable effect.

Good luck!

So you have a Quartz Plaster or you think you have, it is possible that the Plasterer/Builder told you that you were getting that but you possibly ended up with a mix of maybe Marble with some Colored Quartz added along with a few other things to make up the mix, that may be silica sand, oxides just what is any bodies guess.

I guess you will just have to live with the problem, The adding of salt will not have helped in the early stages.

Really its like phoning the doctor and saying I have a lump whats inside. So live with the deposits.

Yea right, thats what they told me too. My plaster is 3 yr now. 100% Quartz plaster. It feels like 80 grit sand paper now. Our water is hard and I added a salt system that I am turning off after I sand the surface and refill. I used a pad and red oxide 220 grit on a pole and it worked well on the seats and shallow end. I am planning on draining, sanding with a wet 7' sander then light acid wash. I was told if you dont acid wash you can get the hard water to be attracted to the scratches the 220 can make.
I hope by not going salt on the refill and changing 1/2 the water every year I can avoid this in the future.
FYI I looked in the plaster truck and he only had cement, color and color quarts bags.

I have a salt pool. Has anyone ever heard of using pool salt as the sand blast medium? It would be easier to have the salt dissolve in the pool then worry about clean up of beads and glass.

How to sand plaster?

Ok I sanded my pool last december to get rid of all the calcium buildup. It went very well. I used a wet sander and diamond pads. I found a 4" very soft backer pad for the inside bench seats back corners & a 7" semi soft backer for the floor & benches. 100-200-300 grit pads. It took about 1/2 day for a 12,000 gal pool. It would have been nicer in a warmer month but water is cheapest in dec. only $50.
I did the flat areas with the 7" pads and a semi-soft backer pad. Then with the smaller backer pad I put on the same diamond discs since the edges wear out first and with the smaller backer pad I got more out of them.
I got rid of the salt system and things are pretty good. I do seem to get a nugget of calcium growing here and there . I guess this is where a anomaly is that attracts the minerals to grow. I was told to acid wash it after to stop this but the pool was very smooth and I wanted to keep that. I think I am still having minor problems because we keep our pool very warm 90 deg. with solar. But at least I can fix it myself now.
I am working now on making a underwater sander that runs with a pressure washer. I saw one on youtube before. I am just using a Harbor Fright Pneumatic sander with the 2 yr warranty of course. This will let me touch up the spa and seats of the pool without draining. The tool fits all my diamond pads and the backer pads from the wet sander. I am borrowing a pressure washer tomorrow to see how it goes. My yard water hose has 100 psi but it runs it to slow. I expect if it works it will only take 2 hours to completely freshen up those areas with out being on my knees like with the wet sander and an empty pool.

Salt is to soft and will turn to dust on impact. Glass beads are just the right hardness and can be collected and dried for reuse. Had it done 10 yrs ago it was amazing. But only for tile I am told.

Ok today I hooked up the pressure washer and what a flop. Just not enough flow. I went ahead and touched up my seats with the 100 psi garden hose setup but plan to switch to a compressor and use the tool as it was designed some time in the future.
Why I still have trouble with build up is beyond me except for the heat the pool sits at all summer. But I can now remove it.
If you have any questions with what I used or to see my pneumatic tool modification just ask.
