My Pool: 10,000 gallon plaster pool, below ground, 2.5HP pump, Jacuzzi JFC425(I think) cartridge filter. Filter cleaned within the last month. Lose about 1" of water in 6 days using bucket test. Pool is old and has small cracks but leak is coming from skimmer, not anywhere else.

Total hardness is 0, please help!

Hired a pool guy to fix our recurring algae issue. The person fixed the algae problem by increasing the CL to over 20 for the past month.

Today I checked the pool with my own HTH 6 way test (I just found this forum today and joined, I'll be buying a Taylor k2006 for more accurate measurement)
Total CL is 20
PH is 7.2
Alk 100
Hardness 0
Cya 30
Water temperature 56 degrees

I used a test strip to verify that the hardness was 0.

Is that a bogus reading because the water temp is 56 degrees? If no...Should I be worried about the hardness being 0?
