Water or sand tubes for cover

Due to the location of my mesh cover anchors, some spots can allow leaves to blow under the cover and into the pool. I am wondering if many people use and like using some type of weighted device to hold the cover down on the ground tight.

My house came with several 2x6’s doubled up with handles added in about three foot lengths. I believe they are ugly for this use and may not have been intended for this use. So I am beginning to look at other options this winter.
