In the future do not use a linear quat (inexpensive) algaecide. Instead, if you must use an algaecide, use PolyQuat (best buy is 60% known as PolyQuat 60) since it is non-foaming. It's more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Generally, you don't need to use an algaecide if you maintain a Free Chlorine (FC) level that is at least 7.5% of the Cyanuric Acid (CYA) level. You can learn more about this at the Pool School. If you do not want to maintain FC levels or want insurance against algae, then you can use an alagecide, but again PolyQuat 60 would be the better algaecide.
