It is a 20-25 Year old Anthony Sylvan Brass Push/Pull pump valve

The Tank is the same age Anthony Sylvan Apollo DE Filter

1.) Should I replace the the Backwash Valve given the age of all of the equipment. I cannot replace it with a direct replacement because it is no longer available. I can rebuild the shaft and seals for 100-200.
2.) Should I replace the back wash valve with an entire new modern assembly? Any Ideas what valve brands are good? Which ones would require the least amount of work to retrofit?
3.) Should I bite the bullet and replace the Tank with new motor etc...
What brands are good? I was interested in a Hayward Model that allows "bump cleaning of the DE" to reduce loss of treated water.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My back wash valve is dying/dead What should I do?
Well I decided to have a highly reccomended pool guy look at it.
It turns out that it is just the valve. He is going to replace the shaft, orings and handle. He said that he has the same valve and filter on his pool. He also said he wouldn't be suprised if it lasted another 10 years or more.
Thanks for the input.

How did this turn out for you? I am in the exact same situation with the same Anthony system and wondering if i should replace the valve or think of replacing the entire system.

it works out good & for under $100, and you do not allows have to replace shaft but only the o-rings which is even cheaper. The old brass backwash valves normally have a top that is bolted down or screws off, so once you take off it pulls out & you will see fato-rings that need replacing.
